Kuwait lost to Italy 4-2 in their debut match of the Futsal Continental Cup on Thursday, which is being sponsored by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Despite the loss, Kuwait played well and was up 2-1 in the first half, but Euro Futsal champions the Gli Azzurri made a great comeback in the second half.
Italy's Massimo De Luca scored a hat-trick, while Kuwait lost key player, Hamad Haya, who was sent off.
Kuwait's scorers were Abdulrahman Al-Taweel and Ahmad Al-Farsi, while the Italian side's first goal was scored by Mario Canel.
In others earlier matches, Egypt lost to Argentina, 1-6, while Czech Republic won over Guatemala 6-2, and Brazil defeated Asian Futsal champions, Japan, 1-0.
The teams participating in the tournament include Brazil, Argentina, Guatemala, Egypt, Japan, Italy, the Czech Republic and hosts Kuwait.
The eight teams represent the world's top five continental football organizing bodies.
