Following their loss to Oman and exiting the first round of the 16th Asian Football Cup in Melbourne Saturday, players and administrators of Kuwait's national football team have pledged to fold the Asia Cup chapter and prepare seriously for upcoming championships.
The team has put up a good performance during the Asian event, Talal Al-Mehteb, the teams' media official, stated to KUNA, noting that exiting the first round is due to the players' wasting of good opportunities to score during its three matches with Australia, South Korea, and Oman.
The team is to go through better preparations in the next stage for upcoming participations, Al-Mehteb said, calling on Kuwaiti government bodies to continue supporting the national team and provide all necessary requirements for development of Kuwaiti football, including financial and legal supports.
For his part, Fahad Awadh, team's player, expressed his hope that his teammates overcome negative spirits resulted from four consecutive losses during current event and the Gulf Cup tourney in Riyadh last November, noting that the team has played much better in the its last match against Oman, despite the loss.
