His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Sakhir Palace today Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa who introduced to him Bahrain taekwondo and poomsae teams marking their honourable accomplishment in the 5th GCC Taekwondo Championship and the first poomsae one hosted recently by Bahrain under the auspices of SCYS First Deputy Chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
HM the King welcomed them and congratulated them on their achievement which is added to the glorious record of Bahraini youth in various sporting competitions. He praised their performance and high morale in the competitions, commending the efforts of the technical and administrative bodies in bringing about the sporting achievements.
HM the King emphasised that the success of the Bahraini athletes in the championship testifies to their ability to stand out and uphold Bahrain's image in various regional and international sporting events. HM commended the remarkable contributions of Bahraini women to boosting the kingdom's status mainly in the sport and youth fields.
HM the King underscored resolve to spare no effort in providing the needed care and support for the Bahraini youth. He also lauded the efforts of Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid in paving the way for Bahraini athletes to succeed and excel by mapping out the needed programmes. He also hailed the efforts of Bahrain Olympic Committee and Board Chairman and members of Bahrain Martial Arts Association in grooming the players who were able to clinch leading positions at the local and international levels.
