Kenyans Rotich Milton Kiplagat (men) and Tadese Metsawot Shankuti (women) won Saturday the 1st edition of the International Marathon of Algiers, held with the participation of 1500 athletes from 15 countries.
The Kenyan Rotich Kiplagat ran the distance of 42.195 km in 2h09:04, ahead of his teammate Lawrence Cherono (2h10:17), while Ethiopian Robi Fikreassefa took the third place (2h11:27).
For women, Kenyan Tadese Metsawot Shankuti snatched the first place (2h37:10) before her teammate Retatsega Guelaw (2h37:20). Ethiopian Korir Selly Jepkemoi finished with the third place in 2h37:30.
The best Algerian performance of this first edition was harvested by Azzedine Chibane who was ranked 13th ( 2h23:06).
