Algeria's national goalball team is still in the Top 10 of the world monthly rankings of the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), as shown by August 2014 rankings the association published on its official website Wednesday.
Algeria ranks eight, with a total of 358,774 points, and remains one of the world's best nations in goalball and the worthy representative of Africa and the Arab world.
During the world goalball championship, in Espoo, Finland, last July, Algeria, and contrary to expectations, was eliminated in the first round, following two wins and two draws and three losses, including a withdrawal (stopped by the referee) against Iran.
Two teams from Algeria's group, namely Finland, the host country, and the United States ranked respectively second (silver medal) and third (bronze medal).
Algeria will seemingly end the year 2014 among the ten best teams, especially as in IBSA programme, no major event is scheduled before the end of the year.
