Harras El-Hodoud coach Tarek El-Ashry has asked the Egypt Football Association (EFA) to clarify whether his team will participate in next season's African Champions League after the Egyptian Premier League 2011/12 season was cancelled on Saturday. Surprise package El-Hodoud were leading the 19-team table when the EFA called off the competition in the wake of the Port Said tragedy, which left 74 fans killed and hundreds injured following a league game between Masry and title holders Ahly. “I am not against the league cancellation but I want to know: Will we be considered as the league champions? Will we take part in the upcoming edition of the CAF Champions League,” El-Ashry told Ahram Sport on Saturday. According to CAF regulations, the Egyptian league champions and runners-up participate in Africa's premier club competition. However, it remains to be seen whether El-Hodoud will be eligible to feature in the Champions League next season after the domestic league was cancelled. The EFA said it would hold a friendly tournament instead, which is highly unlikely to determine who will represent Egypt in African competitions next season. ahramonline .
