Members of the Federal National Council (FNC) on Tuesday demanded that a sports fund be established in order to increase financial support to sports club. They also demanded the development of a national plan for training national human resources to emiratise administrative and technical jobs at sports bodies.
The members voiced their demands during the ordinary session of the FNC's 15th Legislative Chapter as they debated the policy of General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare for developing sports clubs and youth centres.
They also demanded the issuance of a sports law to complete the regulation of sports activities, including among other things, professionalism, disabled sports, administrative work, marketing of events, relations between the Authority and ministries, the Olympic committee and sports clubs, as well as the development of performance indices.
The members also demanded that funds for the Authority be increases so as to ensure a more comprehensive implementation of its strategy.
Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Obaid bin Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Federal National Council of Affairs, attended the debate.
