Fazza Championship for Falconry – Tilwah, the largest and most popular among the series of falconry championships, will kick off on the 2nd January. The championship will be held in Ruwayyah area, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, Dubai.
Fazza Championship for Falconry - Tilwah, is known to be the most diversified in the competing categories and falcon breeds.
Organised by The Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, HHC, the championship this year enjoys a much larger venue, more cameras and laser sensors for accurate timekeeping of the speed race, various facilities from a mosque and washrooms to a large play area for children. The tent is also equipped with 150 LCD screens to broadcast the live action of the championship.
"The Tilwah is considered the main falconry championship in the series and enjoys the largest number of participants thanks to its diversity and the number of competitions included. It includes a competition for juniors, GCC nationals and the local participants who usually are from different nationalities and teams. Additionally, the tournaments are divided into Sheikhs and General Public categories with different falcons, both pure and hybrid. Remote Control Airplane tournaments are included within the championships as well," said Souad Ibrahim Darwish, Director of Championships at HHC.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Fazza Championships - Tilwah Committee, Dumaithan bin Swaidan, said, "We are pleased that the Fazza falconry championships are being developed to set higher standards of organisation and expertise every year. This remarkable model has earned a lot of appreciation from expert falconers who now mark their calendars to showcase their skill and celebrate our culture."
