The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have requested that the upcoming Nations Cup qualifier against Central Africa, slated for 17 June, be postponed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). "We asked the CAF to postpone our match against Central Africa by three days since the interior ministry is expected to refuse to secure the game, which will coincide with Egypt's presidential runoff vote," EFA spokesman Azmy Megahed told Ahram Online on Wednesday. "We hope the CAF will answer our request in light of Egypt's current difficult circumstances," he added. The clash with Central Africa had originally been scheduled for 29 February, but the CAF postponed it at the behest of the EFA following February's Port Said stadium disaster. The first leg of the competition is due to be played on 17 June in Cairo, while the return leg is slated for 29 June.
