The Bahrain Tennis Club (BTC)'s Sports Festival marking the National Day and the 13th Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's Accession to the Throne begins today. A walk competition is scheduled at 9am from Khalifa bin Salman Causeway in Al Hidd. The festival also includes the Zain Junior Tennis Championship, which started on Thursday with more than 150 Bahraini and expatriate players taking part. The National Day Tennis Championship is scheduled to take place at the club later in the day. To be played from 4pm onwards, the four-hour event is open to club members and guests, and sponsored by Gulf Marcom. Rounding off the club's programme is a Mini Tennis Festival, where 100 of the club's youngsters of different nationalities will be involved in a variety of basic tennis contests from 4pm to 6pm. All programmes have been approved by General Organisation for Youth and Sports, headed by president Hisham Mohammed Al Jowder, who is also supporting these competitions.
