According to MP Mubarak Al Alwan, the resort in Al Jahra, west to Kuwait City, and organisers sank into moral depravation for letting scantily covered bodybuilders display their muscles in front of families on Thursday. A Kuwaiti lawmaker has called for stringent action against a local resort after it allowed the staging of a bodybuilding show.According to MP Mubarak Al Alwan, the resort in Al Jahra, west to Kuwait City, and organisers sank into moral depravation for letting scantily covered bodybuilders display their muscles in front of families on Thursday."The authorities need to identify those behind this immoral act," he said. "The men's outfit was shocking and outrageous and the show was a scandal to the families that went to the resort to enjoy their weekend. All those associated with this deplorable event should be punished for violating the values and traditions of the Kuwaiti society and for breaking the guidelines of our religion," he said, quoted by Al Anba daily. For the lawmaker, bodybuilding competitions should not be held in public areas where families gather."Our Kuwaiti society rejects any obscene behaviour and does not tolerate the scandalous outfits that the bodybuilders had. Several families were utterly shocked and left the area," he said. Other lawmakers joined Al Alwan in his call for action against the resort and the organisers. An Al Jahra security official said that the show went ahead after organisers said that the bodybuilders would be wearing jeans and that only their chests and backs would be bare, the daily reported."The resort management was asked to hold the show behind a curtain and to inform the families there about the event so that they could move away," the official said. "Only three families insisted on staying after they said that their relatives were involved in the show and they were allowed to stay and watch."
