The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has retained applications of Algeria, Egypt, Gabon and Ghana to host the African Cup of Nations CAN-2017, out of the seven applications sent to the General Secretariat of CAF as of September 30, 2014, CAF announced.
"Out of the several applications for hosting the competition sent to the General Secretariat of CAF as of 30 September 2014, only four have been found to found to comply with the specified criteria. The retained applications are those of Algeria, Egypt, Gabon and Ghana," the source said.
Applications of Kenya, Sudan and Zimbabwe were rejected by CAF.
The host country of the CAN-2017 will be designated at the beginning of 2015 by CAF's Executive Committee.
