Algerian Minister of Sports Mohamed Tahmy said that his country refused the request of CAF to host the African Nations Cup in 2015, instead of Morocco which insists on postponing the tournament scheduled for the period from January 17th to February 8th, Sada Elbalad reported on Sunday.
Tahmy said that Algerian authorities have received a request from CAF through the Algerian Union to organize the tournament, but they refused as it is unreasonable to organize championships like the African Cup of Nations in only three months.
He added that they are now focusing on completing the work of the new stadiums that they are establishing.
He pointed out that they hoped to organize the tournament of 2019 but that has not been achieved in spite of the good file that they have presented.
