Al Sadd failed on Saturday to beat Al Ahli, with both teams drawing 3-3 in a thrilling encounter.
Al Sadd entered the match needing a win to close the gap on leaders Lekhwiya to one point. But Al Ahli was more than a match to their opponents, with both sides exchanging goals until Al Sadd rescued a draw in the sixth minute of added time.
Alain Dioko was the star of the match scoring a brace to earn a point for Al Ahli. Mojtaba Jabbari scored Al Ahli's other goal. For Al Sadd, Mosab Mahmoud and Grafite scored the first two goals. Then their star Khalfan Ibrahim rescued a draw for his team in the 96th minute.
The draw left Al Sadd with 44 points, four points behind Lekhwiya. Al Ahli meanwhile earned their 30th point, they remain at fifth.
