Al Rayyan Football Club won Saturday the Sheikh Jassim Cup for the second year running after defeating Al Kharaitiyat 2-0, in the match they played at the Doha Stadium. Mousa Haroun and Rodrigo Tabata scored the goals in the 75th and 85th minutes respectively. Secretary-General of Qatar Football Association Saoud Al Mohannadi handed out the trophies to the winners and the medals for both teams. The match itself was very open as both teams exchanged attacks. Al Rayyan bit first as both Nilmar and Tabata had good efforts on target in the 18th minute. Al Kharaitiyat also had a good effort a minute later. Both teams kept at it until Haroun scored the opener in the 75th minute. Despite a brief spell of dominance by Al Kharaitiyat, Al Rayyan managed to regain control and added a second courtesy of Tabata. The Sheikh Jassim Cup brings together 18 local clubs who also take part in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) and the Second Division. The 18 sides have been divided into four groups with the top four competing in the semi-finals. The tournament initially follows a round-robin format and then a knock-out theme from the quarter-finals stage. The event was first held started in 1977 with Al Sadd emerging as first champions of the tournament. From : QNA
