Othman Al-Mutairi of Kuwait ranked first in the final stage of the fifth GCC motorbike race which came to a close here on Tuesday evening. The Bahraini Ahmad Mohammad came second, followed by Ahmed Saif, of Oman and Mouss Khalfan Said, of Qatar. The general ratings put the United Arab Emirates (UAE) first, followed by Bahrain and then Qatar. The race started on December 12 in the Sultanate of Oman with the first stage before proceeding to the second one in the UAE, the third in Qatar, the fourth in Bahrain and finally in Kuwait. Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Athletics Association Federation (KAAF) and head of the motorbike committee of the federation Mohammad Said Khalfan expressed joy for the Al-Mutairi's achievement and the orderly organization of the race. "The technical arrangements for the final stage gave a final flourish to the race and reflected the ability of the Kuwaiti youth to host such regional events," Khalfan said in statements to KUNA. "Motorbike races require strenuous efforts from racers and special training, " he said, noting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia apologized for absenting from the race. Source:KUNA
