Ahly coach Fat'hi Mabrouk denied claims that he had asked for postponing the Egyptian Premier League match with rival Zamalek, scheduled July 21, after four of its players were taken to play among Egypt's national under-23 football team against Uganda.
The Egyptian team will face their Ugandan counterparts on July 18, three days ahead of the Ahly-Zamalek match, as part of the first leg of the 2016 Olympic finals, to be held in Rio.
The four players are Mossad Awad, Ramadan Sobhi, Mohamed Hani and Mahmoud Tar.
Mabrouk told MENA that the Red Devils - in reference to Al Ahly players - are determined to defeat Zamalek.
The Whites - in reference to Zamalek players - are still leading the table with 77 points despite slumping to their second loss of the season at the hands of Maqassa.
