Egyptian champion Ahly unveiled the Brazilian striker Fabio Junior as their third foreign-based player after putting pen to paper for a three year contract worth $1.2 million ($400,000 per season). The 28-year-old forward, who played for Portuguese side Naval, arrived in Cairo last Friday and successfully passed the medical tests. Junior will be assigned to the team’s African squad and he will be able to play against Tunisian giants Esperance in the African Champions League scheduled on 29 July at Rades Stadium. Ahly have been looking to strengthen their front line over the past few weeks after the departure of Liberian striker Francis De Forkey and Osama Hosny. Junior is their second and likely last major boost after hiring Petrojet’s international forward El-Sayed Hamdy last week, who featured against Wydad de Casablanca in the African Champions’ League quarter-final on Sunday.
