Ahly coach Mohamed Youssef praised the performance of his young players during the 2-0 win over El-Entag El-Harby in the first matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday. Coach Youssef called on young players to replace injured players during the game as he had to do without several key elements: Walid Soliman, Ahmed Fathi, Hossam Ashour, Sherif Abdel-Fadil and Sayed Moawad. "The absence of key players affected the team's performance in the game," Youssef was quoted as saying on Ahly's official website "I will keep the young players in the squad to make use of them in the coming games after their superb performance in the game," he added. Young striker Amr Gamal secured the full points of the game after meeting a precise low cross from in-form Manga to score the second goal from close range after Abdallah El-Said broke the deadlock in the 69th minute from a penalty kick. The Red Devils face a critical situation as they try to rebuild their squad and prepare for life after inspirational midfielder Abou-Treika retired earlier this month. The former Ahly and Egypt playmaker have been orchestrating the team’s play for the past decade, making it the most glorious era in the club’s history with a host of prizes, including five African Champions League titles. "We are forced to do without Abou-Treika so I hope to find his replacement soon." The tactician concluded. The defending champions are now top of the Egyptian Premier League Group A with three points after El-Entag El-Harby win. They will fly to Kuwait next week to play a friendly game against El-Kuwait team. Their coming game in the league will be postponed. Source: Ahram Online
