The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)'s President Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa congratulated the Kuwaiti Al-Qadisiya Club on winning the Asian Football Cup Championship for the first time in the Club's history.
The club was crowned as champion of the Asian Football Confederation's Cup after winning the final match on the grounds of the Maktoum bin Rashid Stadium in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates yesterday.
During the press statement following the final match, Shaikh Salman said that the club's victory translates the team spirit and persistence of its players who utilized their huge expertise in the match and learned lessons from previous matches during which they had twice played unsuccessfully.
Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa saluted the Iraqi Erbil team on the high moral spirit of its members throughout time of the final match, and expressed his confidence in their capability to continue their good results in future Asian competitions in the light of the team's characteristic enthusiasm to attain higher performance ranks.
