Wolfsburg have confirmed Alexander Hleb's loan deal will not be extended into the new year. Hleb joined the Wolves in August on a short-term switch from Barcelona but injuries have restricted him to four appearances. And with his deal ending on 31 December, Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath has confirmed the 30-year-old will leave over the winter break. "It's very, very unfortunate," Magath said in a statement. "I would have gladly exercised the option to keep Alex but with the injury problems he has had we cannot do that. If he was 100 per cent fit he would have helped us with his quality." Hleb was disappointed the move had not worked out. He is now facing an uncertain future as European champions Barcelona have made it clear he does not figure in their plans. The Belarus international said: "I was looking to get back to full fitness and reclaim my previous form. This setback has hit me hard."
