Zenit St. Petersburg went joint top on points of the Russian Premier League over the weekend after a 5-1 drubbing of Krasnodar and leaders CSKA Moscow drew 2-2 at Spartak in a bad-tempered derby. CSKA and Zenit are now locked on 46 points after 22 games, while third-placed Dinamo beat Spartak Nalchik 2-0 to remain in the race, five points back in third. The weekend also saw Samuel Eto'o score on his debut for Anzhi Makhachkala. The Cameroonian, who signed last week from Inter Milan, salvaged a 1-1 draw against lowly Rostov after coming on as a 58th minute substitute. In St. Petersburg, Alexander Kerzhakov hit a hat-trick - two close-range finishes and a penalty - to help Zenit humble Krasnodar. Roman Shirokov's volley and a delicate lob by Portuguese forward Danny completed the rout. "I wouldn't say that our opponents were weak, we just played as we needed to," said Kerzhakov, the league's joint top scorer on 13 goals along with CSKA Moscow striker Sekou Doumbia. Doumbia scored in the 51st minute to cancel out the opening strike of Spartak's Brazilian forward Welliton. Zoran Tosic poked under Spartak goalkeeper Sergei Dikan to put the visitors ahead, but Spartak substitute Emmanuel Emenike leveled the score on 75 minutes with a swerving long-range strike. CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev left the field with a knee injury in the first half after Welliton clattered into him, sparking an angry exchange on the pitch and later between club officials. Dinamo Moscow's win came courtesy of a close-range strike from Kevin Kuranyi and a long-range drive from the in-form Igor Semshov. Anzhi Makhachkala are in fifth after drawing at Rostov, with Eto'o's 80th-minute tap-in rescuing a point after Rostov's Timofei Kalachev scored a 72nd-minute free kick. In other matches, Rubin beat bottom club Krylya Sovietov 1-0 to go fourth; Lokomotiv Moscow earned a 1-0 away win at Kuban; Volga Nizhny Novgorod beat Terek Grozny 3-1; and Tomsk played out a scoreless draw with Amkar Perm.
