England U-20 international Matt Phillips was today named in Scotland's squad for next week's international friendly in Slovenia. Phillips, 20, was born in Aylesbury and has represented England at U-19 and U-20 level but has opted to play for Scotland, for whom he qualifies through his grandparents. Scotland manager Craig Levein said: "I'm very excited about the young lad. Great things are expected of him." Another first time call-up was Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew, who has scored four goals this season and recently captained Celtic when Scott Brown was injured. "He has been in good form," Levein said. "I tried to bring him into the squad for the game in Cyprus but he had an injury. He deserves to be in the squad. He has been excellent." Scotland squad: Goalkeepers: Allan McGregor (Rangers), Craig Gordon (Sunderland/ENG), Matt Gilks (Blackpool/ENG) Defenders: Phil Bardsley (Sunderland/ENG), Alan Hutton (Aston Villa/ENG), Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic), Christophe Berra (Wolverhampton Wanderers/ENG), Gary Caldwell (Wigan Athletic/ENG), Grant Hanley (Blackburn Rovers/ENG), Russell Martin (Norwich City/ENG) Midfielders: Charlie Adam (Liverpool/ENG), Barry Bannan (Aston Villa/ENG), Scott Brown (Celtic), Don Cowie (Cardiff City/WAL), Graham Dorrans (West Bromwich Albion/ENG), James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion/ENG), Robert Snodgrass (Leeds United/ENG), Barry Robson (Middlesbrough/ENG), Matt Phillips (Blackpool/ENG) Forwards: Jamie Mackie (Queens Park Rangers/ENG), James Forrest (Celtic), David Goodwillie (Blackburn Rovers/ENG), Craig Mackail-Smith (Brighton and Hove Albion/ENG), Kenny Miller (Cardiff City/WAL)
