Santos Laguna claimed top spot in the Mexican Clausura standings last night with a 3-1 home victory over Puebla. DaMarcus Beasley put the visitors ahead two minutes before half-time but the hosts responded superbly after the break, with two goals from Herculez Gomez and one from Oribe Peralta turning the game on its head. The win moved Santos Laguna to the summit by virtue of goals scored from Monarcas, who lost 2-1 at home to Toluca on Friday. Tigres could also have gone top but had to settle for fourth place - a point off the pace - after managing only a 2-2 draw at Jaguares. Edno Cunha's 71st-minute penalty earned Tigres their point after another substitute, Jaguares' Luis Rey, had struck twice to overturn Lucas Lobos' opener. Monterrey climbed to fifth place thanks to an emphatic 4-1 home triumph over bottom-of-the-table Queretaro. Darvin Chavez, Aldo De Nigris and Cesar Delgado set Monterrey on their way with goals in the first 16 minutes of the second half, with De Nigris' second goal sealing the rout a minute from time after substitute Isaac Romo had briefly given the visitors a glimmer of hope. Guadalajara grabbed two late goals to secure their third win of the campaign - 2-1 against Cruz Azul. The visitors had looked on course for the win thanks to Emanuel Villa's first-half strike, but Erick Torres equalised two minutes from time and then Hector Reynoso converted a penalty deep in stoppage time to complete the turnaround after Cruz Azul'sNestor Araujo had been sent off. Finally, Atlante's game against Atlas and San Luis' clash with Pachuca both ended goalless.
