Al Sadd recorded today a thumping 7-nil victory over Al Arabi SC, in the 21st round of Qatar Stars League.
Al Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah simply ran the show, scoring five goals for his club including one Paneka penalty. Bounedjah is on a personal quest this season for league goalscorer. Lekhwiya's Yousef El Arabi seemed to be coasting towards the accolades, but Bounedjah's five goals bring the two stars level with 21 goals apiece. Morteza Mohammed opened the scoring in the fourth minute courtesy of an Xavi assist. The fifth goal was scored in the 81st minute by substitute Khalfan Ibrahim Khalfan.
The win takes Al Sadd to 50 points in first place ahead of Lekhwiya on goal difference. The title race this year is one of the tightest in recent memory. Al Arabi on the other hand are eighth and remain with 23 points after today's defeat.
