Jesus Navas believes his recall to the Spain squad for Saturday's friendly against England at Wembley is the first step towards re-cementing his place in the national side. Navas, a FIFA World Cup™ winner with Spain last year, has not played at international level since the tournament in South Africa due to a string of injuries but is now on the road to recovery and eyeing a place in Vicente del Bosque's squad forUEFA EURO 2012. The Sevilla winger suffered a leg and foot injuries in the latter half of 2010 before breaking his leg in April, but the 25-year-old is now ready to seize his chance against England this weekend. "I want to take advantage of this opportunity," Navas told the Spanish Football Federation's official website, www.rfef.es. "I will fight to be in the final squad for the European Championship. It is very important to play well and we players must work hard to be there [in the squad]. I've had the opportunity to return to the national side and I'll make the most of it." Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos welcomed his former Sevilla team-mate back into the fold for both Saturday's match and next week's friendly in Costa Rica, saying: "Jesus has been my friend for many years and is a player who deserves a recall." Coach Del Bosque has also recalled Malaga defender Nacho Monreal to the world champions' squad for the two friendlies. Like Navas, Monreal has been absent from the international set-up due to injury but is keen to make the most of his recall in order to guarantee his place at EURO 2012. "I am very happy to get a new call-up," Monreal told www.as.com. "The truth is that it has been unexpected, but I've always said that to be called up to the national selection is a source of great pride. I am very encouraged. "Whenever we come here we try to help as much as possible, to win the confidence of the coach and do well, and hopefully we can be there at the tournament. You have to go out to enjoy it, but also be aware that there is a big responsibility."
