Lille continued their fine start to the French Ligue 1 season with an impressive 2-0 win against Nantes, who were made to pay for not making the most of their dominance in the first half. Second-half goals from Divock Origi and Marco Lopes earned Rene Girard's unbeaten side the spoils as they went top of the table with 11 points from five games after Bordeaux were beaten at Guingamp. Nantes, meanwhile, dropped to tenth with seven points from their five matches.
Andre-Pierre Gignac's goal in the first minute sent Marseille on the way to a 3-1 win over Evian as Marcelo Bielsa's side registered their third consecutive league victory. Gignac got Marseille off to a perfect start at the Parc des Sports by opening the scoring in the first minute, before Giannelli Imbula notched a second a minute before half-time and Florian Thauvin struck a third shortly after the hour mark.
Clarck N'Sikulu netted for Evian in injury time but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation strike for Pascal Dupraz's side. The result sees Bielsa's men move up to third place, just a point behind Lille. Evian, meanwhile, remain bottom with just one point form their opening five matches.
Bordeaux missed the chance to return to the top of Ligue 1 as first-half goals from Christophe Mandanne and Moustapha Diallo sent them to a 2-1 defeat at Guingamp. Willy Sagnol's side had started the new season in fine style but had only Cheick Diabate's late consolation to show for their efforts as the hosts hung on to move out of the bottom three.
