Ricardo Clark's header in the seventh minute of injury time on Saturday lifted the United States to a 1-0 victory over Venezuela in a friendly international football match. Clark, who came on in the 86th minute, rose to head Jermaine Jones' corner kick past Venezuela keeper Jose Morales. Neither country fielded its best side, with top players instead staying with their clubs. One exception was Jones, who was called up by US coach Jurgen Klinsmann for national duty as he serves an eight-game suspension by the German football federation. The Schalke midfielder was slapped with the ban for intentionally stepping on the foot of midfielder Marco Reus of Borussia Monchengladbach last month.
