Japan beat Bahrain 2-0 on Wednesday to secure a place in the men's football tournament at the London Olympics. A strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake rattled the Tokyo area during the second half but play continued at Tokyo's National Stadium. Takahiro Ogihara and Hiroshi Kiyotake scored second-half goals as Japan finished first in Group C with 15 points. Japan has appeared at the last four Olympics. Only the three group winners in Asia automatically qualify for London. In another game Wednesday, Australia and Iraq, which are both out of contention in Group B, drew 0-0. United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan were playing later to decide the winner of that group. South Korea has already won Group A.
