Marco Reus scored a hat-trick as Borussia Monchengladbach eased past ten-man Werder Bremen 5-0 to continue their superb home form. Patrick Herrmann opened the scoring in the 16th minute and then Reus made it 2-0 after 23 minutes. The German international struck again in the 38th minute and the 51st minute to make it 4-0. Juan Arango's superb strike made it 5-0 in the 53rd minute before Werder went a man down in the 76th minute as Sokratis was sent off. Gladbach extended their undefeated streak at Borussia Park to ten games - the longest stretch in the Bundesliga. The hosts grabbed the lead after 16 minutes with Arango crossing from the left side to Herrmann who headed the ball just inside the near left post. It was the tenth time this season that Bremen have fallen behind. After two more decent chances, the advantage was 2-0 in the 23rd minute thanks to a fantastic solo effort by Reus. He danced through the Bremen defence and then beat Bremen keeper Tim Wiese one-on-one to the lower left corner. Gladbach then went 3-0 up after 39 minutes on a counter attack. Herrmann raced down the left and tucked the ball inside to Reus, who chipped in with his left foot to continue his fantastic run of form. Reus made it a hat-trick six minutes after the restart as Wiese stopped Mike Hanke's shot, but the ball went to Reus, who scored from 17 yards out. Gladbach made it 5-0 in the 53rd minute. Wiese blocked Herrmann's shot which went to Arango for a wonderful long distance goal with his left foot. Bremen went a man down for the final 14 minutes as defender Sokratis was sent off for a second yellow card.
