Brazilian giants Corinthians overcame Mexican side Cruz Azul 1-0 to go to the top of Group Six in the Copa Libertadores. Danilo headed home an Alex cross in the 35th minute and gave Tite's team victory at the Estadio Pacaembu in Sao Paulo, with Corinthians still unbeaten after four games. Cruz Azul would have booked a place in the last 16 with victory but instead drop to second place in the group. They almost equalised in the 87th minute, but an Emanuel Villa shot struck the post. By that time, Cruz Azul were playing with 10 men as defender Fausto Pinto had been sent off. Internacional, also from Brazil, earned a point from their trip to Bolivia as they drew 1-1 with hosts The Strongest to stay top of Group One. Playing at high altitude - 3,600 metres above sea level in La Paz - Gilberto scored a last-gasp goal to help Inter avoid defeat. The Strongest had taken the lead two minutes into the second half as Rodrigo Ramallo finished off a cross from Pablo Escobar. The Strongest were preparing to celebrate victory, but Gilberto came off the bench and scored following a cross by Nei. Veteran Inter defender Indio told Globo TV that the atmospheric conditions were difficult to cope with. The 37-year-old said: "Here you play beyond your limits. I'm dying of a headache. I highlight the attitude Inter had in this draw. All of us were warriors." In Rio de Janeiro, Vasco da Gama scored a 2-0 home win over Paraguay's Libertad. Goals by Juninho Pernambucano, in the 52nd minute, and Alecsandro, nine minutes later, helped Vasco da Gama join Libertad on top of Group Five with seven points.
