Cologne have announced that they have loaned Japanese defender Tomoaki Makino, who has made just eight appearances in two seasons, to J.League side Urawa Red Diamonds "With this loan we are giving him an opportunity to get more playing time in the J-League and with the national side, which is important for him," said Cologne sporting director Volker Finke. Makini, eight caps under his belt, has struggled to get in the side following his January 2010 move from Sanfrecce Hiroshima, for whom he scored 20 goals in 127 matches.
