Joaquin Caparros will be confirmed as the new coach of Primera Liga club Mallorca Tuesday after the club's major shareholder, Lorenzo Serra Ferrer said there was the principal of an agreement in place for him to replace Michael Laudrup at the club. Caparros, who left Athletic Club Bilbao after four successful years at the end of last season, has also coached Sevilla and Deportivo la Coruna in the BBVA Primera Liga. He began this season as the coach of Swiss side, Neuchatel Xamax, only to leave after two months following a strong difference of opinion with the club chairman. Laudrup left his post at Mallorca last week after the club sacked his assistant Erik Larsen for criticizing Serra Ferrer. "We have the principal of an agreement with Joaquin Caparros for him to coach Mallorca, we just have a few last details to iron out," said Serra Ferrer. "I am satisfied that a coach of Joaquin Caparros' level wants to work in our project. We hope things work out as they deserve to, he is a good coach, who will create values in the squad as he has a good profile as a person, he is brave and knows how to transmit his principals and criteria," said Serra Ferrer. Mallorca currently have seven points from six games in the BBVA Primera Liga after winning two, drawing one and losing three of their opening matches to the campaign. Caparros' first game in charge will be a home match against Valencia on October 15.
