Werder Bremen bounced back from their embarrassing loss to Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend with a home victory over Stuttgart. Aaron Hunt opened the scoring in the 57th minute and Naldo made it 2-0 ten minutes later as Bremen, a week after losing 5-0 at Monchengladbach, collected their third victory in four league games to climb up to fourth spot on 26 points. Stuttgart, who have now collected just one win in their last five Bundesliga games, remain on 21 points. Bremen had the first chance of the game after a quarter of an hour but Markus Rosenberg could not beat Stuttgart keeper Sven Ulreich when clean through on goal. Ulreich then kept his team in the game with two fine saves against Marko Arnautovic in one-on-one situations in the 23rd and 26th minutes. Stuttgart finally had a good chance of their own after 40 minutes but Bremen keeper Tim Wiese was able to save Tamas Hajnal's shot. Wiese made another superb save a minute later to keep out Serdar Tasci's header from nine yards. The hosts finally took the lead just before the hour mark with Clemens Fritz playing a through ball to Hunt, who got past Khalid Boulahrouz and beat Ulreich through his legs. Bremen doubled their lead in the 67th minute with a thunderous free-kick from Naldo into the far upper right corner. It was his first goal for Bremen since 25 February, 2010 in the UEFA Europa League. Sandro Wagner nearly made it 3-0 but headed wide from two yards out after 81 minutes. And Christian Gentner headed just wide right from seven yards out in an attempt to pull one back.
