Ajax twice came from behind to share the points with PSV Eindhoven in an entertaining 2-2 encounter between the perennial Eredivisie title rivals at the Philips Stadion. Tim Matavz opened the scoring for PSV in the second minute but Ajax equalised on the stroke of half-time thanks to Kolbeinn Sigthorsson. The home side took the lead again ten minutes after the break when Georginio Wijnaldum scored from the penalty spot but Ajax levelled again with a Dmitriy Bulykin goal 11 minutes before the final whistle. The opening goal set the tone for the action-packed game when Erik Pieters tore Ajax's defence apart before threading a pass through to Matavz, who clipped the ball over the goalkeeper from 12 yards. Ajax nearly levelled in what was almost a calamitous moment for PSV goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton, when Cristian Eriksen's free-kick from 30 yards bypassed his team-mates and bounced at the feet of the custodian, who reacted just in time to make the save. Siem De Jong then went close for the visitors when his header from a Theo Janssen corner narrowly flew over the bar. Bulykin bags point However, after more pressure, Sigthorsson drew Ajax level just before the break after PSV's defence failed to make a clearance, allowing him to slot home. PSV took charge again after the break when Wijnaldum scored from a penalty, the spot-kick awarded after Gregory Van Der Wiel fouled Dries Mertens The home side almost increased their lead seconds later when Mertens slipped past the onrushing keeper and pulled the trigger, only for Toby Alderweireld to hack the ball off the line. But Ajax did find the equaliser in the 79th minute when Bulykin latched onto a Van Der Wiel cross from the right wing to convert from six yards.
