Workshop at UJ Amman - Arab Today A workshop entitled “Metrology in Chemistry – Implementing the technical requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025” started today at Hamdi Mango Center for Scientific research (HMCSR). The three - day workshop is organised by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Union. The HMCSR Director, Dr. Abeer Al Bawab said the workshop aims to train 35 participants from various analytical laboratories in Jordan, along with trainees from the Center and the University on the application of metrology standards in chemistry within the technical requirements of the ISO (17025). The workshop, which is run by lecturers from the European Union, focuses on various related topics, such as: measuring low concentrations of various substances in the samples, chromatographic analysis to study the chemical composition of natural and synthetic materials, and methods of verifying the accuracy of measurement, Al Bawab added. Bawab noted that the participants will be evaluated at the end of the workshop by solving some analytical application problems of topics raised in the workshop. The participants will receive a certificate of participation from the European Union upon concluding the workshop. It’s worth mentioning that the participants represent several parties, are: the University of Science and Technology, Water Authority, Ibn Hayyan laboratories, Jordan Water Company-Miyahuna, Rajhi Cement Co, Royal Scientific Society, and the Atomic Energy Commission as well as the University of Jordan and the University Hospital.
