UAE Ambassador to Senegal, Mohammed Salem Al Rashdi, has inaugurated the Khalifa bin Zayed Centre for Vocational Education and Development for Persons with Special Needs in the Hann neighbourhood of Dakar, the capital of Senegal. The project has been funded by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
The governor and mayor of Hann Bel-Air municipal department, city notables and a crowd of people with special needs attended the event.
The Centre houses three classes for computer literacy, sewing and cosmetics.
Senegalese officials thanked the government and the people of the UAE for extending humanitarian assistance to the people of Senegal, mainly the most vulnerable segments.
Handicapped affairs' official at the municipality expressed gratitude to the Khalifa Foundation for building and funding the Centre which will qualify disabled persons to take up jobs that will help them earn their living and contribute to the development of their local community.
Any agreement between IRENA and Israel does not represent any change in UAE position
ABU DHABI, 28th November 2015 (WAM): Maryam Al Falasi, the Director of Communications at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said yesterday that the International Renewable Energy Agency, IRENA, is an international, independent agency that works according to the laws, regulations and norms that govern the work of such organisations.
Accordingly, she stressed, any agreement between IRENA and Israel does not represent any change in the position of the UAE or its relations with Israel.
The functions of missions accredited to IRENA, she concluded, are limited to affairs related to their communications and dealings with the Agency. They do not, under any circumstances, cover any other activities and do not involve any obligation upon the host country with regards to its diplomatic relations or any other relations.
The IRENA Council held its 10th meeting in Abu Dhabi on 24th and 25th November.
