Defense Minister Prince Salman chairs a meeting Riyadh - Arabstoday The Prince Salman Chair for Historical and Civilization Studies of Arabian Peninsula has set up an annual research award called “Prince Salman Award for Students of Higher Education in Historical and Civilization Studies of Arabian Peninsula.”Defense Minister Prince Salman, chairman of King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Research and Archives, chaired the meeting of the supervisory and scientific committee of the Prince Salman Chair, which took the decision Monday to give the awards. The meeting also discussed programs to encourage outstanding students in higher studies in universities and publication of the best theses on the history of the Kingdom. The chair will organize a seminar for students of history in Saudi universities in collaboration with the King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), the Saudi Press Agency reported. The meeting also discussed programs of visiting professors and student exchanges with renowned universities. The supervisory board of the chair includes Rector of the King Saud University Abdullah Al-Othman, Undersecretary at the Riyadh Governorate Nasser Al-Dawood and Secretary General of the Darah Fahd Al-Sammari. The chair was established at the King Saud University in Riyadh with an agreement between the university and Darah under the aegis of Prince Salman in December 2009.
