Oman, Muscat Muscat - Agencies The Arab Regional Forum on enhancing government support for open educational resources at the international level began under the patronage of Dr Hamoud Bin Khalfan Al Harthy, undersecretary of Oman's education ministry on Monday. The two-day forum is organised by The Research Council in collaboration with Unesco and the Commonwealth Education Organisation. Dr Ahmed Al Saeedi, head of education and human resources at The Research Council, said there is lack of open educational resources and due to that UNESCO and the Commonwealth Education Organisation launched an initiative to spread awareness on the importance of benefiting from open educational resources and availing an e-educational content with high quality. "The forum showcases opportunities to developing education by reviewing the facilities that can contribute in disseminating knowledge and build research capacity. It will discuss the UNESCO proposal to hold an international conference this year to display the best practices, initiatives and world experiences in this field. The forum will host experts, specialists and researches in this field from the Sultanate, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan, Jordan, UAE, France and Italy," said a statement.
