Al Azhar University Cairo - Arab Today Cautious calm prevailed at Al Azhar University on Wednesday despite calls by the so-called National Alliance for Supporting Legitimacy for more on-campus rallies. Bad weather kept many students at home with small groups of Muslim Brotherhood seen inside the campus trying to disrupt study and ban students and professors from entering their faculties. Despite students protests that have been almost daily since the start of the new academic year, Al Azhar University insist not to disrupt study, saying all exams are to take place on time by the end of December. Police forces were not seen inside the campus but only being deployed outside in an anticipation of any development. The university board under Osama El-Abd decided on Tuesday to seek the help of police forces to protect students and professors after pro-Morsi protests turned violent. Source: MENA
