The Coptic Orthodox Church will commemorate the anniversary marking the death of late pope Shenouda III on Tuesday, Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese has said.
The church will hold a mass at the Dier Al Anba Bishoy, where the late pope was buried, Tawadros said during his weekly sermon at the Abbaseya Coptic Cathedral.
During the sermon, Pope Tawadros highlighted role played by late Pope Shenouda to serve the church and homeland, saying, "We will keep good memories about him."
Pope Shenouda III was the 117th Pope of Alexandria & Patriarch of the See of St. Mark. His episcopate lasted 40 years, four months, and 4 days from 14 November 1971 until his death on 17 March 2012.
