Moroccan women protest against abortion Aghadir – Mohamed Al Faqir Morocco's public prosecution has imprisoned two nurses working in a private ?clinic in the city of Al Oyoun, south Morocco, for carrying out a "backstreet" abortion. Terminating a pregnancy remains illegal in Morocco, except in very specific cases. The two nurses were arrested after the girl’s family filed a complaint to the public prosecution after the procedure lead to health complications. A leading doctor claimed that nearly 900 women a day were undergoing backstreet abortions. Activists are calling for a reform of the country's abortion law.
