The Algerian artist, Siham Hamdani, specialized in painting on glass and pottery, the antiques made from pottery with modern techniques invaded the Algerians' houses strongly, and it has become highly desirable in most local markets in the state.
Hamdani revealed for Arabs Today, the secrets of the profession of painting on pottery or glass, which is one of the ancient arts, but now the specialists in this industry are using modern techniques, to highlight the beauty of these antiques. They use the acrylic substance or special ceramic pigment to paint on the pottery, and a special pigment for painting on the glass, which is used usually for decoration.
Concerning her story in this industry, Hamdani said she discovered this talent nearly four years ago, where she loves the colors and decor. She aspires to see her antiques and designs in the houses of all Algerians, revealing her company has become an Algerian brand, and could compete with pottery markets in the world, and she received offers from Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco to organize her exhibitions there.
Hamdani, bachelor's degree in Arabic literature, wants to add her own touch in this craft, through using the colors or symbols, which reflect the popular heritage, noting that it is striving to stick to popular heritage and at the same time trying to blend the traditional and modern drawings that fit all tastes.
