Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Diocese received on Monday UAE's Ambassador here Juma Mubarak al Junaibi.
During the meeting, al Junaibi offered condolences for the pontiff over the victims of Botroseya Church, hoping that Egypt surpasses these incidents.
He further hailed the efforts exerted by the pope to strengthen national unity in Egypt.
Al Junaibi pointed out to the appreciation of the UAE under its leader Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan for the role played by the Egyptian church in establishing the values of tolerance not only in Egypt but also in the Arab and Islamic worlds.
The diplomat handed the pontiff a condolence message from UAE's Minister of State for Tolerance Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid al Qasimi where she stressed that her country supports Egypt in fighting terrorism with all its kinds.
For his part, Pope Tawadros lauded the efforts exerted by UAE in consolidating the values of tolerance among different religions.
