Russia is ready to strengthen coordination of anti-terrorist efforts with Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
Commenting on Monday’s terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia, the foreign ministry said: "Moscow confirms its principled position on uncompromising fight without double standards against global terrorist evil, on building up broad international cooperation with this aim."
"We are ready to continue contributing to this by all means, by strengthening coordination of consistent anti-terrorist efforts with Saudi Arabia, other countries in the region and beyond," the ministry, quoted by Tass news agency, added.
The foreign ministry condemned the terrorist attacks, conveyed condolences to the families of those killed and wished soonest recovery to those injured. "Especially cynical is the fact that the aforementioned terrorist attacks were carried out in the wake of ending the month of Muslim fasting Ramadan and starting one of the most celebrated holidays in the Islamic world - Eid al-Fitr," the ministry concluded.
On July 3-4, Saudi Arabia was struck by a series of terrorist attacks. Suicide bombers attacked the US consulate in Jeddah, a Shia mosque in Qatif in Saudi Arabia’s east and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. According to preliminary information, four security officers were killed and five more injured in the attacks. No one yet claimed responsibility but the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization is thought to be behind the attacks.
