At least 60 people were killed and 150 injured after 14 carriages of an Indian express train derailed today in northern Uttar Pradesh state.
The incident took place at around 3 a.m. local time near Pukhrayan city, about 100 km from Kanpur, at a time when most of the passengers were asleep.
According to a report published by NDTV, a spokesperson from Northern Central Railways, Vijay Kumar, said that doctors and senior railway officials reached the spot soon after the accident and rescue operations were underway.
