The Egyptian ambassador Mohamed Zayed in Beirut received a phone call from Lebanon's Prime Minister Tammam Salam to offer his condolences over the deaths occurred among the Egyptian pilgrims in Mena Stampede incident.
The death toll from the stampede during a Hajj ritual in Saudi Arabia reached 126 among the Egyptian pilgrims along with 110 others missing.
Hundreds of pilgrims were killed and injured last Thursday when a stampede broke out in the tent city of Mina during a pilgrimage ritual.
Speaking to MENA, Zayed said talks with the Lebanese premier touched on the bilateral ties, and conditions in Lebanon.
Salam offered his pleasure for his meeting with Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the fringe of the 70th session of UN General Assembly in New York, Zayed said.
The Egyptian envoy reiterated his country's staunch support to Lebanon's stability, making an end to the presidential vacuum there, and empowering the government to assume its duties to meet the Lebanese people's aspirations.
