H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, today praised the UAE leaders for promoting knowledge and cited the Reading Nation campaign launched today by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
Sheikh Hamdan praised the Reading Nation" campaign which will directly provide children and school pupils with two million books, establish 2,000 libraries, and support educational and humanitarian programmes.
He said, "This qualitative initiative is not unusual for H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid who cares about the weak in times of crisis. He launches initiatives to enhance their endurance. He also seeks to raise support and boost people's and companies' sense of responsibility."
"The humanitarian responsibility of the UAE is growing due to the deteriorating situation in conflict areas. The UAE counters humanitarian developments with more initiatives that can make a difference in underprivileged communities."
He said H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid used to launch innovative initiatives, in the holy month of Ramadan in particular.
