Egypt has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Bahrain's Sitra area, killing and wounding a number of policemen, Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Aati said in a statement on Tuesday.
He extended condolences to the victims' families, wishing speedy recovery for the injured.
Abdel Aati asserted that Egypt stands by Bahrain in its fight against terrorism.
Bahrain's interior ministry said through its official Twitter account that two policemen were killed and 3 seriously injured in a bomb blast in Sitra. The area is said to have a considerable Shia population.
Bahrain has been taking security precautions following Daesh bombings in Gulf countries in recent months that have targeted Shiite Muslims.
