Egypt has strongly condemned the assassination of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov in Turkey's capital Ankara.
"Egypt offers its deep condolences to the government and people of Russia," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"It stresses its support and solidarity for Moscow in this humanitarian plight and for the Russian and international efforts aiming at uprooting terrorism," the statement added.
Earlier on Monday, a Turkish policeman shot dead the Russian ambassador to Turkey, apparently in protest at Russia's involvement in Aleppo.
The attacker was killed in a shootout with Turkish police soon afterwards.
